In an effort to achieve a comprehensive database of all the health care facilities in the country, the National Telehealth Center (NThC), in cooperation with DOH and Google, has aimed to map the entire country’s health care facilities by launching the first Geolocate4Health Contest.

On its final announcement, the grandwinner of an IPOD TOUCH is none other than the multi-month winner from College of Pharmacy, Jade Rodriguez, by labeling a grandtotal of 129 health facilities in our country using the googlemapmaker. Using Google Map Maker, all participants was able to pin and outline health care facilities (e.g. government hospitals, rural health units, lying-in centers, barangay health stations) in any areas in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the doctor to the barrio category grand prize winner of a BlackBerry phone is Anthony Bocboc Cu, UP College of Medicine Class 2008 deployed in Dapa, Surigao del Norte. He was able to label a grandtotal of 45 health facilities in our country using the googlemapmaker. Using Google Map Maker, all participants was able to pin and outline health care facilities (e.g. government hospitals, rural health units, lying-in centers, barangay health stations) in any areas in the Philippines.

We would like to extend our thanks to all participants and we hope that this contest inspired us to think of ways on how to improve the health care system of our beloved country.

Now in its final month, the NThC proudly announces the top 3 among 31 contestants for the month of May namely: 1) Jade Rodriguez, College of Pharmacy, 2) Reno Cereno, College of Medicine and 3) Eric Rivas. College of Medicine. And the winner for the May Geolocate4Health Contest is College of Pharmacy student Jade Rodriguez by labeling a total of 91 health care facilities, bagging the monthly cash prize of Php 5,000.

The UP Manila National Telehealth Center proudly announces the winner of the March Geolocate4Health Contest.

College of Pharmacy student Jade Rodriguez bested all other contestants by labeling a total of 39 health facilities for the month of March, bagging the monthly cash prize of Php5,000. Every month all counters are reset to zero so join now!

The contest is still running with prizes for April and May (monthly cash prize of Php5000) and grand prize of an iPod Touch for the grand champion.

Here’s how to join in 3 easy steps:

1. Create your google id.

2. Register at http://one.telehealth.ph/g4h.php

3. Login to google, go to http://www.google.com/mapmaker and label as many health facilities as you can all over the Philippines.

Updated contest rules (including what types of facilities are accepted) are also at http://one.telehealth.ph/g4h.php, please refrain from categorizing your labels as buildings (instead put the appropriate health facility).

The cumulative facility count from February to May will be the grand prize winner of an IPOD TOUCH. The count for the present month begins on the first day of the month at 12:00am, and ends on the last day of the month at 11:59pm. The UP Manila National Telehealth Center proudly announces the winner of the March Geolocate4Health Contest. College of Pharmacy student Jade Rodriguez bested all other contestants by labeling a total of 39 health facilities for the month of March, bagging the cash prize of Php5,000.

Jade Rodriguez won the contest with a cumulative score of 39 points followed by College of Medicine students Joyce Ann Tan(29 points) and Reno Cereno(17.5 points). The cash prize of Php5,000 and a googlemap shirt were awarded to Jade Rodriguez by the NThC staff last April 22, 2010, headed by Dr. Alex Gavino.
